In a world where nothing is certain, it is best to learn how to fall and pick oneself up. This allows us to take responsibility for our own lives and live in a more practical manner. Being single and independent for several years now I’ve learned a lot more about the art of being self-sufficient, the silver lining in this is that I’ve also learned how to ask and receive help from others-there’s a balance.
Having survived several experiences that tested my grit also helped me become more self-confident. Skills of self-sufficiency are gifts that allow us to harvest more inner peace within our being. Yet none of these traits would be possible without the tests that preceded them. Often people fear the challenges that would make them into shining stars, rather than running towards the challenge they run away in fear. What are they truly running from? Is it an illusion or is it their own power they fear?
Yes, we can run and hide in the closet, or we can face our monsters only to realize that they were just tiny mice disguised as elephants. In order to get the most out of life, we must learn to walk tall like the kings and queens of our inner kingdom. That is true freedom.
