Why you shouldn’t follow your heart

‘Follow your heart,’ is not good advice for someone who is disconnected from their heart. In fact, one can only follow their heart once they have stepped up to the arduous task of letting go of the emotional/spiritual baggage that they have accumulated in life. Once the heart has healed enough, can one then begin to develop a healthy relationship with oneself and set on the path to following one’s heart.
This, like any other path, is one of trial and error, yet it’s one of the best relationships one can ever have-one with oneself. Learning to trust oneself again, learning one’s weaknesses and strengths, these are life-long tools to use in navigating the challenges of life.
Follow your heart-yes, but first- let go of the baggage.
