Be kind to one another

“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”-Aesop

I find it interesting how in society it is more acceptable to use substances to numb our emotional pain away than it is to seek help. I see people made fun of for going to seek help; I see the stigma that it carries, the shame. I mean, no one wants to appear as though something is wrong with them; they would rather walk around with a fake smile than to reveal their deep hurts. Everyone has the need to fit it, but to what cost?

This is where people become introverted and suffer in silence rather than reaching out for help. This is where our high school shootings come from, everyone has a boiling point, and once they reach it-that’s when everyone notices.

If I could make one request to the world it would be to share more kindness, there are people out there who could use a smile, a pat on the back, maybe even a hug if they are open to it. People suffer in silence all too often, and unfortunately some of them end up killing themselves because the pain is too unbearable.

As someone who has experienced the consequences of keeping a secret for a long time, and then coming out and seeking help, I have seen all sides of the coin. Some people will shut you out, others will be kind, it’s not easy to heal. But it doesn’t have to be this way, let’s learn to be kind to one another; we are all on this planet called earth trying to live in peace. This is for all the sexually abused people, the homosexuals, the handicapped, the special needs, the elderly, rape victims, anyone who feels like an outcast-you are not alone, there are kind people out there who do care, do not lose hope.
