“All the adversity I’ve had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me… You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.”-Walt Disney
Imagine that you are in a dark forest, and you see a bridge up ahead that leads you out of this darkness to a beautiful prairie. You come up to the bridge and are then stopped by a troll, he tells you that in order to cross the bridge you have to pass three challenges. He says you must learn what hard work, sacrifice, and patience are.Once you have learned these lessons you may then cross to the other side.
This is what life is like; this is what it looks like when you have a goal, a dream. We come upon challenges along the road that can either stop us dead in our tracks or we overcome them and then, like a videogame, we move on to the next level. This is how you can perceive challenges, as mere stepping stones, levels into another game of life. They are the price for what’s on the other side. And once we learn how to play the game, it just gets easier.
You will always have the freewill to choose whether to proceed or stop, but the game goes on. Play with the heart of a child and it will be blissful, but if you decided to just be stubborn and stomp around in an adult-like fit then all you will see is one challenge after another. Relax and remember, the game is short, play joyfully.
