What do you see?

poop

“The last of human freedoms – the ability to chose one’s attitude in a given set of circumstances.”- Viktor E. Frankl

Beautiful butterflies aren’t they? I’m pet-sitting for a friend, I was in the garden looking for poop to scoop when a thought came to me, I thought, ‘This is just like life’. Whatever we focus our attention on we find. Among the poop there were also flowers that had just fallen from the bush, beautiful flowers at that.

Where is your focus? Are you at the checkout waiting to buy $50 dollars worth of steak complaining that the cashier is taking too long? How about this, some people don’t even have $50 in their pocket, let alone food on their plate. Tired of your job? Then quit, how long have you been putting it off and why? If you keep making excuses for yourself then that’s exactly what the universe will reciprocate-excuses.

Instead of focusing on what you don’t like or can’t do, focus on what you can do, what you do have, and the things that you do love. Some people have made careers based on the things that they were already doing for free, just because they loved it so much.

There is a silver lining in just about everything, even in the most depressing of situations. I recommend a book by Viktor E. Frankl, he survived the Holocaust and was able to extract meaning out of something so atrocious.

So remember, look for the butterflies in life.
